Bringing Perth’s Lost Heritage Back to Life

Legacy Labs is an ongoing digital heritage project where Interior Design North Metro TAFE students use cutting-edge technology to recreate lost or at-risk historic buildings. By developing interactive 3D models, students breathe new life into the architectural past, ensuring that significant landmarks remain accessible for future generations.

In collaboration with the City of Perth Boorloo Heritage Festival and the Art Deco and Modernist Society of WA, Legacy Labs is proud to present a special showcase as part of the Art Deco in Perth exhibition at Perth Town Hall. This project highlights Perth’s rich Art Deco heritage, offering a digital window into the past through detailed reconstructions of some of the city’s most iconic buildings.

The Hotel Adelphi

Legacy Labs is reviving the Hotel Adelphi, a long-lost Art Deco landmark of Perth, this year. Once a symbol of modern elegance, the Adelphi was a stunning example of early 20th-century design, now remembered only through photographs and archives. Through meticulous research and advanced digital modeling, students reconstructed this historic hotel in interactive 3D, allowing visitors to experience its grandeur once more.

Students engage in real-world digital preservation through this initiative, combining history, design, and technology to celebrate Perth’s evolving architectural story.
